Experience the Healing Power of the Metabolic Approach to Cancer

Discover a revolutionary way to treat cancer by harnessing the power of the metabolic approach. At cancerXzürich, we offer personalised care plans that optimise your body’s natural defences and restore its balance to effectively fight cancer.

The Metabolic Approach to Cancer

The metabolic approach to cancer focuses on restoring the body’s natural metabolic balance to prevent or reverse cancer growth. It is based on the Terrain Ten™ protocol developed by the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, which identifies and addresses ten critical factors that influence cancer initiation and progression.

The Terrain Ten™ Method

The Terrain Ten™ method is a comprehensive approach that assesses 10 key areas of the body’s terrain. By addressing each of these areas, we create a personalised treatment plan designed to improve your overall health and resistance to cancer.

The 10 Terrains:

Genetics & Epigenetics
Our genetic blueprint, inherited from our ancestors, influences metabolic, digestive and autoimmune tendencies, to name a few. We integrate a patient’s genetic variations, SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms), into their personalised care plan to address these tendencies. Epigenetics describes how lifestyle factors can overcome and neutralise our inherited genetic weaknesses and support beneficial genes.

Blood Sugar Balance
Nowadays, most people are metabolically inflexible, meaning they are unable to switch easily between utilizing fat and/or sugar for fuel. We use metabolic therapies to deprive cancer cells of their essential nutrient, glucose.

Toxic Exposure
Avoiding toxic environments is critical but challenging. We provide toxicant testing and develop safe detoxification strategies.

Microbiome & Digestive Function
The microbiome affects the immune system, mood and brain function and is influenced by toxicity, antibiotics and diet. We restore the balance of gut flora and improve digestion through targeted therapies.

Immune Function
Immune function varies from non-existent to overactive as seen in autoimmune conditions. We assess white blood cell function to provide specific immune support where needed.

Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress drive disease progression. We monitor and reduce these dysfunctions through diet and supplementation.

Circulation & Angiogenesis
Poor circulation and thick blood can affect overall health. We assess and address these issues and check angiogenesis markers in cancer patients.

Hormone balance
Hormonal imbalances affect everyone, not just women of reproductive age. We assess and address these imbalances through lifestyle changes and treatments, especially in the case of hormone-sensitive tumors.

Stress & Biorhythms
Chronic stress and sleep disorders contribute to disease. We optimise circadian rhythms and reduce stress through a variety of techniques.

Mental & Emotional Health
Emotional trauma has a chronic impact on health and needs to be addressed. We support the resolution of trauma to improve overall well-being and to remove a contributing factor in the development and progression of cancer.

How the Terrain Ten™ Method Works

Treating the 10 elements of the terrain helps the body regain its natural ability to fight off chronic diseases such as cancer. By addressing each aspect of a patient’s terrain, we create an environment in which the body can heal itself.

Just as a fish in a fishbowl can only thrive if the water is clean, the human body needs a clean and balanced internal environment to stay healthy. Treating the fish alone is not enough; the water must be purified to prevent the fish from getting sick again. Similarly, our holistic approach ensures that the entire terrain of your body is optimised for healing and long-term health.

Below are examples of how we address each element of the terrain:

Genetics & Epigenetics
Personalised genetic testing to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which enable tailored treatments.

Blood Sugar Balance
Implementation of dietary changes and metabolic therapies to regulate blood glucose levels.

Toxic Exposure
Carrying out toxicity testing and developing detoxification strategies.

Microbiome & Digestive Function
Dietary changes, detoxification processes, probiotic and prebiotic therapies to restore the balance of gut flora and improve digestion.

Immune Function
Review of white blood cell function and immune-boosting therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), redlight infusion and many more.

Inflammation & Oxidative Stress
Anti-inflammatory diets, antioxidant supplements and bioregulatory therapies to reduce chronic inflammation and oxidative stress.

Circulation & Angiogenesis
Assessment and improvement of blood circulation and control of angiogenesis markers.

Hormone Balance
Natural hormone balancing treatments and lifestyle changes to stabilise hormone levels.

Stress & Biorhythms
Stress reduction techniques such as breathing exercises and meditation, as well as bio-regulation therapies and optimization of sleep patterns.

Mental & Emotional Health
Counselling and trauma resolution therapies to improve mental and emotional well-being.

Understanding Cancer: Somatic vs. Metabolic Theory

Somatic Theory of Cancer Development

The somatic theory, which underpins most conventional cancer treatments, posits that cancer arises from genetic mutations in the DNA of a single cell. These mutations cause uncontrolled cell growth and tumor formation. Conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery target these rapidly dividing cells to eliminate the tumor.

Conventional Medicine/Standard of Care

  • Chemotherapy: Cytotoxic drugs kill rapidly dividing cancer cells.
  • Radiation Therapy: High-energy radiation destroys cancerous tissues.
  • Surgery: Physically removes tumors from the body.
  • Targeted Therapy: Drugs target specific genetic mutations in cancer cells.
  • Immunotherapy: Boosts the body’s immune system to fight cancer.

Metabolic Theory of Cancer Development

The metabolic theory, based on the Warburg effect and research by Prof. Thomas N. Seyfried, suggests that cancer is primarily a metabolic disease. The Warburg Effect states that cancer cells predominantly produce energy by glycolysis followed by lactic acid fermentation, even in the presence of oxygen (aerobic glycolysis). The metabolic theory posits that cancer cells have altered energy production mechanisms, primarily relying on anerobic fermentation of glucose and glutamine for energy in the cytosol rather than the more efficient process of oxidative phosphorylation taking place normally in mitochondria. This shift in metabolism leads to dysregulated cell growth, secondary genetic mutations and survival of cancer cells.

Metabolic Approach to Cancer

  • Metabolic Strategies: Aim to disrupt the cancer cells’ metabolic pathways, depriving them of their energy source, e.g., via glucose restriction.
  • Nutritional Therapies: Focus on anti-inflammatory and low-glycemic foods to reduce metabolic stress on the body. An example is the ketogenic diet, a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that reduces glucose availability and promotes the production and use of ketone bodies, which cancer cells cannot efficiently use.
  • Press-Pulse Therapy: This approach combines metabolic stress (press) with targeted bioregulative therapy (pulse) to exploit cancer cells’ vulnerabilities. The origninal article on the Press-Pulse Therapy.
  • Bio-regulative Therapies:
    • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Increases tissue oxygen levels to inhibit cancer cells’ metabolism (link to HBOTX).
    • Red Light and Near Infrared Light Therapy: Uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate tissues and promote healing and cellular function.
    • Haemo-Laser Therapy: Involves the intravenous use of red light to improve blood properties, stimulate the immune system to destroy cancer cells and enhance overall cellular function.
    • Parasympathetic System Enhancement: Techniques like breathing exercises, meditation, cold plunging, and the use of LifeVessel to promote stress perception reduction and healing.
    • Hydrogen Therapy: It acts as a powerful antioxidant and reduces harmful oxidative stress.
    • Pulsed Electromagnetic Field and Brainwave: This holistic approach offers multi-level support for your body and mind.

By understanding the differences between these theories, you can see how the metabolic approach targets the underlying metabolic abnormalities in cancer cells, offering a complementary strategy to traditional treatments.
